Technical Details
Figure AI, a company developing humanoid robots, has announced that its Figure 03 robot has completed a 200-hour package sorting test without human intervention. Initially, the company planned an eight-hour live stream from its headquarters in San Jose, but the robots continued to operate without major issues, prompting the test to be extended.
Context and Background
During the test, the robots recognized packages, lifted them, and placed them on a conveyor belt with the barcode facing down. The system operated using the Helix-02 AI model without remote control. If a robot encountered an abnormal situation, it automatically reset and resumed operation.
Industry Impact
According to Figure's CEO Brett Adcock, by the 50th hour of the test, the system had processed over 63,000 packages. Previously, Figure conducted a separate 10-hour test in which the robot competed with a human. The human sorted 12,924 packages, while the robot sorted 12,732. The average processing time was 2.79 seconds for the human and 2.83 seconds for the robot.
