Technical Details
Information about the next generation of Samsung's foldable flagships has been revealed. According to Sammobile, the Korean company is preparing to release two models: Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. The new models, along with the flexible Galaxy Z Flip 8, are expected to be presented at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22.
Background and Context
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will be the direct successor to last year's Galaxy Z Fold 7 and will retain its status as the main premium solution. The name Galaxy Z Fold 8 will go to a completely new modification, which was previously mentioned in leaks as the Fold 8 Wide. This smartphone will have a wider and shorter screen, similar to what is expected from the upcoming foldable iPhone.
Industry Impact
It's interesting to note that the first foldable iPhone is rumored to have the name iPhone Ultra. It's unknown whether this influenced Samsung's decision, but the company has been using the Ultra prefix in its Galaxy S line since 2020, so it's unlikely that Samsung can be accused of copying its competitor.
