SpaceX Supports Tesla

TL;DR

  • SpaceX and xAI purchase Tesla products
  • In 2025, SpaceX bought electric pickups worth $131 million

Why it matters

The internal demand from Musk's companies may partially support Tesla's performance amidst declining interest from regular customers.

SpaceX Financial Documents

SpaceX's financial documents have revealed an interesting detail: Elon Musk's companies are actively supporting each other's businesses. Since 2023, Tesla has received around $890 million in revenue from SpaceX and xAI.

Cybertruck Purchases

A significant portion of this revenue came from Cybertruck purchases. In 2025 alone, SpaceX acquired electric pickups worth $131 million. This is equivalent to approximately 1300-1800 vehicles, depending on the configuration, with actual estimates ranging from 1700 to 1800 units.

Additional Purchases

According to registration data, in the fourth quarter of 2025, SpaceX purchased over 1200 Cybertrucks, accounting for more than 18% of all sales of the model during that period. Other Musk companies, such as xAI, Neuralink, and The Boring Company, also made purchases.

Market Impact

This activity coincides with a decline in demand for the Cybertruck. If in 2024 Tesla sold almost 39,000 vehicles, in 2025 sales decreased to around 20,000, and in early 2026, they fell even further.

Energy Solutions

In addition to vehicles, SpaceX and xAI are actively purchasing energy solutions from Tesla: $191 million for Megapack in 2024 and $506 million in 2025. While the transactions are formally conducted under market conditions, analysts note the effect: internal demand from Musk's companies may partially support Tesla's performance amidst declining interest from regular customers.

Musk's Ecosystem

Thus, the 'Musk ecosystem' is becoming increasingly interconnected: SpaceX and xAI provide demand for Tesla products, while Tesla supplies transportation and energy solutions for their infrastructure.
