Tupolev specialists have completed flight tests of the Tu-214 aircraft with a Russian-made ozone converter. The device, developed by the Kristall design bureau, provides reliable protection for passengers and crew from the harmful effects of ozone at all flight altitudes. This was reported by the press service of the Rostech state corporation.
Background and Context
Previously, imported ozone converters were used on Tu-204/214 aircraft, which had no analogues in the domestic industry. Rostech emphasized that the development allows for independence from foreign technologies and improved operational characteristics.
Industry Impact
The tests were conducted in flight over the northern latitudes, where the ozone concentration in the air is maximum. In the future, the technology of applying a catalytic coating can be used on other aircraft.
