US DoD Releases UFO Documents

TL;DR

  • The US DoD has released new documents about UFOs
  • The documents include video and text materials

Why it matters

The release of the documents may shed light on the nature of unidentified aerial phenomena

Technical Details

The US Department of Defense has declassified a new batch of documents related to extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena, and unidentified flying objects. The released materials include over 50 video and text documents that were previously confidential. The Department of Defense's Global Anomalies Office stated that after several stages of verification, there is currently no direct evidence that these recorded anomalies are related to extraterrestrial life.

Context and Background

However, the military also acknowledges that many of these cases still cannot be reasonably explained using existing common sense. One infrared video was shot in April 2024 by a US Coast Guard aircraft's infrared sensor. The footage shows an unidentified flying object moving near an airplane performing a routine flight over the southeastern United States.

Industry Impact

Another video, labeled as 'unidentified aerial phenomenon in Syria, suddenly accelerating', was initially obtained using an infrared system of a combat platform deployed by the US military in the Middle East in 2021. The corresponding content was not uploaded to the military's secret network archive until 2024, and this is the first time it has been made public.
