Game Cancellation
Wizards of the Coast has canceled a grandiose Dungeons & Dragons action game developed by Giant Skull, a studio founded by Stig Asmussen, director of God of War III and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
Reasons for Cancellation
According to Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, Wizards of the Coast terminated its publishing agreement with Giant Skull and canceled the game. Wizards of the Coast stated that they evaluate projects at each stage of development and decided not to move forward with Giant Skull's early concept.
Future Plans
A Wizards of the Coast representative confirmed that the company continues to be in contact with Giant Skull and is still open to receiving proposals for potential new projects. Stig Asmussen expressed no hard feelings towards Wizards of the Coast and is already in talks with other companies about potential publishing agreements.
Industry Impact
The cancellation of Giant Skull's ambitious Dungeons & Dragons game was part of Wizards of the Coast's reorganization, which also included the closure of Atomic Arcade studio (working on an AAA project in the G.I. Joe universe).
