The new scam scheme may lead to the theft of Russian citizens' funds

New Scam Scheme

T-Bank has warned of a new scam scheme uncovered by its Neuroshield technology. Scammers are frightening Russians with the theft of biometric data. The scam begins with a call from someone claiming to be an employee of a telecom operator, bank, or courier service, aiming to engage the victim in conversation.

How the Scam Works

Then, a call is made from a fictional 'Digital Security Center', claiming that the victim's Gosuslugi personal account has been hacked using biometric data. Next, scammers call, pretending to be from a bank or law enforcement agencies, stating that they have already tried to withdraw money and offering to transfer funds to a 'protected' account, which actually belongs to the scammers.

Protection Against Scammers

Mikhail Bulatov, head of the ecosystem identification center at T-Bank, emphasized that it is impossible to hack Gosuslugi or a bank account using a voice recording. T-Bank has a multi-level protection system based on artificial intelligence, analyzing customer behavior according to a thousand criteria. Last year, this helped prevent thefts totaling 272 million rubles.
