Nvidia N1X and N1 Arm Processors: Up to 20 Cores and RTX 5070 Graphics

TL;DR

  • Nvidia N1X: up to 20 cores, RTX 5070-level graphics, PCIe 5.0, and LPDDR5x support.
  • Nvidia N1: up to 12 cores, 2560 CUDA cores, PCIe 5.0, and LPDDR5x support.

Why it matters

The new Nvidia N1X and N1 processors will enable more powerful and efficient Windows laptops.

Technical Details

The flagship N1X processor features 10 Cortex-X925 cores, 10 Cortex-A725 cores, and Nvidia Blackwell graphics with 6144 CUDA cores, similar to GeForce RTX 5070. A cut-down version has 9 cores of each type and 5120 CUDA cores. Both support 12 PCIe 5.0 lanes, 5 PCIe 4.0 lanes, and 45-80W TDP. They can handle 16-128 GB of LPDDR5x memory.

Context and Background

The N1 chips are designed for more affordable laptops and come in two versions. The higher-end version has 12 cores (8+4) and 2560 CUDA cores, while the lower-end version has 10 cores (7+3) and 2048 CUDA cores. Both support 8 PCIe 5.0 lanes, 3 PCIe 4.0 lanes, and 8-64 GB of RAM, with 18-45W TDP.

Industry Impact

Nvidia has not officially confirmed the specifications, and it's unclear if all these processors will debut at Computex. The leak is based on sources from 2024, so Nvidia's plans may have changed over the past two years.
